Service Description

This class allows students 8 and up to practice making on the pottery wheel. Instruction will also cover handbuilding and clay sculpture techniques like coils and slabs. Before you become a master on the wheel, this class provides you with the proper throwing foundations like wedging, centering, and bringing up a cylinder. Students will learn the different types of clay, cones, the firing process, and how clay dries. Glazing and trimming are explored in this class to create decorative and appealing aesthetics. Before entering Open Studio throwing, students are urged to take this class to gain understanding of the proper foundations of ceramics under instructor guidance. Our goal is to help students feel confident and comfortable at the wheel. Up to 3 lbs of clay and one 2 hour Glaze & Trim included in the price of the session. Additional clay is available for purchase at $2.50/lb. All pottery must be picked up within 90 days of the session. You can also purchase our 4 class bundle at a discount for $210! You can choose 4 of the same class or mix it up! At check out you will be asked to create a member log-in or to log-in as a site member to purchase a bundle. This is just to help us keep track and manage your sessions. Parents Please Note: Students under 13 years of age need to be walked to and from the studio at drop off and pick up. Masks are required to be worn in the studio.
